The Tudor Café Newbury




Jack Hole - proprietor of the Tudor Café


The Tudor Café at 103 Northbrook Street closed in 1973 after serving the town for over 40 years. The café was opened in 1931 by Jack Hole and his wife after they moved to Newbury from Kent. The Tudor was a well known and popular meeting place.

Before the Tudor Café it was called Bridge Restaurant.

Dendrochronology has recently dated this building at 1497 - it really is Tudor.
