Title: Looks like the rot is spreading
Post by: Number 6 on April 28, 2017, 11:25:15 am
This surely indicates that WBC is no longer fit for purpose with an expensive and inefficient management structure surviving whilst the operational side has been cut to the point of collapse ? The fact that no heads roll as a result should tell us all that we need.  Time for major and rapid change. Start with whoever signed off that computer system.

What's the point?  Nothing, absolutely nothing is going to change.  The punters are kept happy with spash pads and control towers and aren't going to vote out the local political coalition that keeps us in this mess.

And then there are those who think the nation still has the collective intelligence and entrepreneurial skills and capability to stand in our own outside Europe.  Small wonder therefore that West Berks. voted to remain.

We can't even run a public lavatory!

Whilst I agree that much is wrong - especially at the political level where there seems to be a total lack of competence at both a local and national level - and that in general standards and conduct seem to be rapidly on the wain, I also look at some of the tremendous work going on (Cross rail for instance) and take hope that we still have the stuff of greatness in us. What we need to do is scrap the deadwood of so many useless people in positions of authority who have no skills other than milking the system and replace them with people of integrity. That means making some hard and rather surprising choices regarding future political representation.

Glad you are still optimistic.  Where do we find competent people with integrity?  Let's be honest, not one of the Political Parties really welcomes policy input from the electorate; indeed it's discouraged.  If someone does actually break through with a new commercial concept what bank or finance house is going to provide finance, never mind support?  So, what's the real future outlook for UK?  Bleak and poor.  One thing is for sure, once the money we have from selling the farm has gone, there is no more.  So, if you think public services are bad now; they are likely to get worse.  So perhaps our politicians, particularly Tory and LibDem are right - letting down the spending air bed slowly.

Our politicians seem to be keen to keep inflating their spending as rapidly as possible even if it means taxing us until the pips squeak. Did you know that part of the last budget surreptitiously allows councils to introduce a local income tax in the next couple of years ?  Any doubt about their profligacy should be quelled by a quick  read of this. Can't quite remember the mandate for it from the public however.
