Newbury - Northcroft Lido reopens today (12th July 2014)

Technical issues which caused the opening of the Northcroft Lido to be postponed have now been resolved.

It will be open to the public from 10:00am on Saturday July 12th to continue a tradition of outdoor swimming at the now historical landmark dating back to 1870.

Hilary Cole, West Berkshire's Executive Councillor for Leisure said: "The popularity of the outdoor pool never wanes with over 1,000 visitors recorded per day at the height of the heat wave in 2013. Leisure Centres are important community facilities and I am delighted that we are now able to open this lovely Lido for the summer."

Marcus Cobb, Centre Manager at Northcroft said: "Following the floods which affected the area over the winter and early spring it has been a challenge to get the pool ready for the summer season but thanks to the efforts of all involved we look forward to good weather and a busy summer.

The Lido has plenty of seating area, an ice cream kiosk and shaded grassy areas. It is an ideal place for friends and families to have fun and enjoy the summer weather.

The outdoor heated main pool at Northcroft is 72 metres long and there is also a 10 metre paddling pool, ideal for families with toddlers and babies.
