It is very rare these days to see a politician at any level give a truly honest answer on anything controversial. The one in this article should be congratulated for telling it exactly as it is but I am sure the public will just go into complete denial and as usual try and shoot the messenger. Tough times ahead for quite some time.

Yes, it's a refreshing change. He's being just as honest as the Chancellor, who was giving exactly the same message at election time. The real issue comes from his party colleagues; who seem to be feigning shocked surprise at what has happened. That and those from some of the other local councils who still seem to think it's ok to spend as if money is going out of fashion.
I see the NWN article is causing comment eIswhere. I am afraid Gideon has been caught being very economical with the truth (or just plain incompetent) with his lack of forecasting accuracy leading to the hole being dug ever deeper. Expect much worse to come for us ordinary people.
