Newbury - Blood tests at the West Berkshire Hospital - New Appointment System

PHLEBOTOMY DEPARTMENT AT WEST BERKSHIRE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL (WBCH)

The phlebotomy department are now operating an appointments system to improve waiting times and quality of service to patients.

To book an appointment patients should call: 01635 273343 or alternatively book online at: https://wbch.sangix.co.uk (You will have to register to book online, and you will need your NHS number. Your NHS number should be on the form that you need to take with you. Alternatively it will be on any recent prescription form.)

If the blood test form is marked URGENT by the DOCTOR or NURSE  then please go immediately to the blood test unit and you will be booked in.  This only applies within the Units opening hours.  If outside of the opening times you will need to get advice from your Doctor or Nurse.

The unit is open Monday to Friday 8.00 am - 3.30 pm.

Please note that different types of blood tests are taken at certain times, as listed below:

Warfarin Patients   8.00am - 10am

Fasting Blood Tests  8.00am - 10am

All Types   10am - 12.30pm

All Types  1 pm - 3.30 pm

Patients can also telephone to book an appointment on: 01635 273343.

All patients will still need to bring their
Blood Test Request Form as usual.

Message from Phlebotomy Department:

Obviously when implementing a brand new system there will always be little things that need ironing out, but we are sure that this will be a better system, that is more structured, and we will have a more consistent workflow through the whole of the working day, reducing long waiting times, offering an improved service for patients.

Thank you
