Newbury - The circus comes to town! - See the streets come alive!

THE CIRCUS COMES TO TOWN
THIS WEEKEND

On the 14th & 15th June, Circus takes to the streets of Newbury, when the Corn Exchange presents another incredible outdoor event in the centre of the town.

See the streets come alive with Circus, as the world-renowned No Fit State brings their joyous mix of circus skills in an immersive, ever-evolving large-scale circus installation where anything can happen and everything becomes an excuse for performance and spectacle.

Flowing through the town, setting up in the streets, the action will be focused in Northbrook Street, where unfolding washing lines, flags, umbrellas and piles of bric-a-brac will appear.  There's no big top, but a colony of musicians, acrobats and aerialists exploding out of caravans - a joyous menagerie of circus chaos.

No Fit State will be joined by local groups of performers including Kennet District Gymnastics Club, members of Spin City an Aerial Fitness group and a group of local hula hoopists. Individuals involved also include Mel Stevens, a former professional dancer who broke her back 10 years ago, who is hoping to open an aerial performance centre for people with disabilities.

Shop; stop; watch or even (if you're brave enough) have a go ... Open House is a daytime circus experience for public spaces, which will transform Newbury into a circus village.

Performances take place on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th June, from 11.30am - 1.30pm and 2.30pm - 4.30pm  in and around Northbrook Street, Newbury Town Centre. More information can be found at the Corn Exchange website www.cornexchangenew.com/events/info/no-fit-state-open-house
