Happy New Year to you all....Although the paper had increased in price it was much thinner and nothing of interest in it.

I look forward to the coming year and thanks Brian for letting us all keep in touch.

It usually is the old folk and children that get hit the hardest. Living expences get higher weekly for all of us but the thing us we have to have heating, food and other essentials. :(

I am inclined to agree with Old Goat. There is not a lot we can do. The government do not seem to listen to the voice of the people and just go on in their own sweet way.

I must admit if you came back to Thatcham now you would not recognise Newbury at all. Even we don't and still live local. Parking problems , plus the cost of doing so put a lot of people off.  It is nowhere near the lovely small town it used to be.

Maybe they sent the demand to the wrong man. They are letting you go free this year. ;D

We regularly used the Empire Cafe on our weekly visit to Newbury Thursdays market day. It was a splendid cafe then.
