Got something to say? / Re: Wasting taxpayers money

So here we have it - an admission that the councils so called 'investing' in commercial properties is in fact putting the local taxpayers at risk and not the members and officers doing the gambling. I ask, once again, when did we ever sanction the council to do this ? The answer is of course we did not. I suggest that those responsible should be made personally liable. A shameful abuse of position and power.

After a week of absence it is good to see the forum back. Despite a lack of (real) posters the amount of views illustrate the importance of a continuing (and polite) local discourse on things West Berkshire.

This looks very much like converting private risk and debt into public risk and debt, at what is a very difficult time in the commercial property market ? Should we demand that the council members and executive officers accept full personal liability as well if things go wrong ?

Perhaps a greater concentration on maths and science whilst at school needed ? Greater threats to the planet short term are the risks to biodiversity and pollution of the seas, together with the fact that the planet is being stripped of resources at an increasing and faster rate than ever before? Well done Newbury Town Council for a totally meaningless gesture in the face of the profligacy of the worlds largest guilty parties.

So the UK which produces a 1.1 % contribution to global warming emissions has radicalised it's school pupils whilst the real big players get on with destroying the planet ? If you are going to protest choose your polluters wisely !

As someone with a beard and a duffel coat I now feel rather marginalised ;-)

More evidence of the using of young minds for nefarious purposes ? I suspect that most of these young people spend an huge amount of their personal time glued to screens on the internet without the slightest thought about the carbon content involved globally in doing so ? They should drop the holier than thou stance and look at their own contributions first to global warming before preaching to others. Or maybe just concentrate on their education ?

Oh dear, if they don't understand why this is completely unacceptable then we really do have a problem with the council leadership team.
It's not only the political leadership that needs changing but the entire executive team as well. Better still abolish WBC all together.

It is clear that this is now on an escalating trajectory. If allowed to continue it will not be pleasant. The powers that be need to wake up to the manipulation of our young people.

Indeed and its clear from the article below that they are still on their happy pills . Should the Lb Dems or even Labour by any chance unseat them would either hold a full and public audit of what's taken place over the past several years of mismanagement ? No, I thought not. They would not want to queer the pitch for themselves in power would they ? A curse on them all.

It looks like I was right about the intentions behind involving school children. Tomorrows anarchists being recruited today whilst officialdom stands idly by ? Our so called leaders are asleep at the wheel. Shameful.

Incapable of running their own organisation can we expect good answers from our WBC scoundrels ? Their only answer - tax more !

Oh dear. Now in commerce and industry heads at the top would definitely roll in very short order (or at least they used to in the days where accountability ruled) but I suspect other than some wringing of hands at the fact that their incompetence has been highlighted no further action will be taken. WBC has descended to the status of a Brian Rix farce.

We all know where this is heading. How long before we start reading the same kind of headlines that plague London and other large conurbations?

So we have a little more detail - I suspect a rise in council tax will be needed to help fund ?
